Rock House U Method Review
What Is “Rock House U”?
Rock House, the company responsible for the Rock House Method, was founded by John McCarthy, and has been helping musicians since 1986 with their DVD’s, books, and online systems.
The complete Rock House range of products, with over 100 titles, includes the “Rock House Method”, “House of Blues”, and “So Easy by Rock House”.
Many manufacturers also bundle Rock House instructional products with their beginner instrument packages, including
- Coast Music
- Jay Turser
- Jim Deacon
- and others
Rock House have a unique Core Curriculum that is a clear learning path from beginner right through to the professional level. They have traditionally used DVD and print material to distribute their easy to use system to aspiring musicians, who would either buy their products retail, or get them as part of a bundle with instruments from leading manufacturers. In 2015 they launched “Rock House U” to combine the convenience of the online learning platform with their already successful core curriculum.
Features That Set Them Apart From The Competition…
Rock House U has a proprietary system call “Perform It” that listens to the student perform an exercise and provides an instant grade and feedback. This displays a clear indicator for students that they are ready to move to the next lesson or if they need to practice more. This is feedback just like a live instructor might provide. Where else are you going to find that? Awesome!

The RockHouseU Life-long Learning Collection
This collection is massive with 30 lessons, and is a clear path to gradual improvement with objectives to reach along the way. They have cleverly expanded on the normal “play songs” method in some very unique and effective ways.
They have this “tree trunk” core curriculum idea which means that as you progress, the trunk branches out into different genres, styles and techniques. So when you feel ready, you can branch out from the core to explore the branches. The branches are optional to the core lessons, and you pick them according to your taste. The amazing thing is that it all flows tremendously smoothly, with no loss of focus or direction.
